EIDUR Gudjohnsen has signed a short-term deal with Chinese side Shijiazhuang Ever Bright.
The 36-year-old Icelander had struggled to agree personal terms on a new one-year deal with Wanderers, with the suggestion being that he wanted an improvement on the salary he earned last season.
Gudjohnsen scored four goals and also wore the captain’s armband on his return to Bolton last term, some 14 years after he had last played for the club.
His contract with Shijiazhuang runs until November – and sources close to the player suggest he will consider another contract in Europe to give him the best possible chance of playing for his country in next summer’s European Championships, should they qualify from the group.
