DARREN Pratley will be forced to have an operation after suffering damaged ankle ligaments against Sheffield United last weekend.
The club skipper already stood to miss 10 weeks but Phil Parkinson confirmed he will now stay on the sidelines for another month after scans revealed further damage.
Pratley will have an operation next week to stabilise the ligaments around the ankle following an injury sustained in a challenge with former Bury striker Leon Clarke.
“It’s a shame for Darren because he had worked very, very hard over the summer and I thought he was playing well against Sheffield United as well,” Parkinson told The Bolton News.
“He’s a strong character and I’m sure he’ll be back to challenge as soon as he can.”
