YOUNGSTERS Alex Perry and Jack Earing could get another shot at first team football against Blackpool tonight.

After earning a debut in defeat against Everton’s Under-23s in the previous Checkatrade Trophy group game, Phil Parkinson is hoping to hand them some more senior experience.

Wanderers need a result to ensure their final game in November – at Cheltenham Town – is not a complete dead rubber.

Parkinson is expecting to make changes but is bound by the regulations of the competition to name five of his starting line-up from the Oxford game, or conversely five of the club’s leading appearance makers this season.

That leaves Parkinson with some juggling to do - with the likes of Gary Madine, Zach Clough and David Wheater unlikely to be risked - but might give him scope to draft the two development squad regulars into his starting line-up once again.

“The rules are the rules – the lads who haven’t played will get a game but we have to bide by what the league tell us we must play,” he said.

“I was pleased with the Under-23s the other night, I thought they played really well. The two new lads – Hugo (Tanner) and Sam (Lavelle) – were very good but we can’t play them at first team level because of the embargo. Jack and Alex have been training with us quite a bit and I’d like to give them another chance.”
