A YOUNG football fan had a weekend to remember after bumping into one of his idols in the town centre following the Whites’ promotion.
17-year-old, Sam Martin, had been out celebrating Wanderers’ success in Bradshawgate when he met 2016/17 player of the season, David Wheater and shared a pizza in the Food Factory on Sunday evening.

“I was out celebrating promotion and bumped into him in the town centre,” said the Bromley Cross resident, who works at the Toby Inn.
“We chatted about how well the Wanderers had done this season and how we are going to go all the way to the top.”

What is your response?52 years since I was first bought my season ticket for the ground at Burnden. I think it was 2 shillings and sixpence for a child. I have been to Wembley, Cardiff etc but knew this match was as big as any in our history. Now working in Australia and had to follow on the Bolton News delayed text ...as against Port Vale...nerve wracking to say the least. Well done to the manager and the team.
