KEN Anderson has assured fans Wanderers will name a “positive and offensive line-up” in the must-win game against Nottingham Forest on the final day of the season.

The Bolton chairman expressed his disappointment at the result at Burton but claimed yesterday, after a discussion with his manager, a more attacking line-up will start next Sunday’s game.

Parkinson came under fire at the Pirelli Stadium for what was perceived a safety-first approach, which quickly unravelled as his side went 2-0 down before half time.

But Anderson's comments have received mixed reviews among some fans, who feel he is treading on his manager's toes.

“There has been a great deal of comment about the defensive strategy and team setup recently and we have taken this on board and having discussed this with the manager, l can assure you, that there will be a positive and offensive line up against Nottingham Forest this Sunday,” Anderson said.

The chairman also announced plans to speak directly with supporters in a “no holds barred” Q&A session a couple of weeks.

Wanderers, meanwhile, need to beat Forest and hope Burton and Barnsley do not win their respective fixtures against Preston and Derby.

Birmingham could be sucked back into trouble if they are heavily beaten by Fulham but Reading – who like the Blues are perched on 43 points – would require a 12-goal swing to finish below the Whites.

“In the meantime, l continue to have a positive attitude and remain a glass half full type and believe in the saying, ‘Where there’s life there’s hope,’” Anderson said. “We still have a fair chance of staying up, albeit that we are now relying on other results, as well as our own and with Burton, Barnsley, Birmingham and Reading having very difficult games against Preston, Derby, Fulham and Cardiff respectively - everything is still to play for.”
