GARY Cahill insists Wanderers can rediscover the winning feeling, and ease the pressure on Gary Megson.

Saturday’s defeat against Wolves left the Whites second bottom of the Premier League, two points adrift of safety, and without a win in their last six games in all competitions.

Gary Megson claimed on Saturday that he felt no undue pressure on his job — and his defensive lynchpin Cahill agrees that a win against Manchester City on Saturday could considerably change the atmosphere at the Reebok.

“There is no better feeling in football than a winning feeling — that goes for us and fans alike,” he said.

“There are 24 matches to go this season and we are one away from getting back on track.

“We have put in some good performances — like Everton, Portsmouth away, West Ham in the Carling Cup and Tottenham, but Saturday was disappointing, no doubt about that.

“But we know what we are capable of.”

Although December got off to a losing start, Cahill reckons there are still points up for grabs from the five remaining games of 2009 against City, West Ham, Wigan, Burnley and Hull.

“There are lots of points out there to play for,” the centre-half said. “It’s a busy December, and the games are difficult, but playing week-in week-out might help us.

“We have got a good set of lads in the dressing room.

“I know, like me, they have been reflecting on the game at Wolves and working on how to put things right. It’s about performing in training now and putting it in out on the pitch.”
