GARY Megson has told his players to back up their words with actions if they want to pull clear of trouble.

Wanderers head into a crucial double-header at the Reebok Stadium still reeling from a narrow defeat against Wolves on Saturday that left them second bottom of the table and two points adrift of safety.

Manchester City come to town on Saturday, with West Ham the visitors three days later, for a run of games that might well define the Whites’ season.

And after hearing his players say the right things since the reverse at Molineux, the manager has now told his side to put their thoughts into practice.

“There comes a time when you can’t keep chatting on about having two home games, so we have an advantage, or being away from home, or playing a team from the bottom three,” Megson said.

“We have got a few players who are not delivering what I know they can deliver for whatever reason. That’s why we are where we are. And we have got to change all that.”

Chung-Yong Lee, pictured, was one of the few players who emerged from last weekend with credit, having played as a supplementary striker alongside Ivan Klasnic.

Johan Elmander also impressed from the bench, and the fact that skipper Kevin Davies is also back from suspension leaves Megson with plenty of attacking options heading into the City game.

“I thought Chung-Yong did really well,” the manager said. “When he plays for Korea, he can play anywhere in the top three. The lad has got talent going forward.

“He loves threatening all the time, as did Ivan and Johan when he went on but we didn’t convert nearly enough chances.”

Matt Taylor was also impressed with the South Korean international, who made his first start since the 5-1 defeat at Aston Villa.

“It's about getting in your opponents' third and creating chances,” said the midfielder. “I thought Chungy gave us a different dimension when he got on the ball.

"We just didn't have enough of it on the day, unfortunately.”
