OWEN Coyle is set to ignore a last-minute effort by Burnley to keep him at Turf Moor to join up with Wanderers for their game at Arsenal on Wednesday.

As The Bolton News went to press, Burnley chairman Barry Kilby was making a late appeal to convince the 43-year-old to remain with the Clarets.

But it is understood that the Glaswegian has his heart set on an emotional return to Bolton, and is ready to give the squad a perfect confidence boost by playing some part in Wednesday night’s game at the Emirates.

Wanderers hope to announce Coyle as Gary Megson’s successor shortly before the team travel to North London.
