JET-HEELED winger Wladimir Weiss is in a hurry to make up for lost time at Wanderers.

The Slovakia international has been stuck behind Shaun Wright-Phillips, Craig Bellamy, Robinho and Martin Petrov in the queue for a midfield spot at Manchester City, prompting his decision to look elsewhere for first team football.

He rejected the chance to join Wigan to sign on loan at the Reebok until the end of the season, and is now determined to make an impact in an environment he feels will suit him.

“I haven’t played a first team game for a long time because of the quality of players that Manchester City have,” he said. “I wanted to get out on loan for a few months but I couldn’t because of the transfer window.

“Wigan and Bolton showed an interest and after I spoke to the manager, Owen Coyle, I knew that I wanted to come here.

“He tries to play football and that’s what I like, so I think we’ll do really well at the club.”

Weiss, pictured, made a short but eventful debut for Wanderers in Tuesday night’s 1-0 victory over Burnley.

And the speedy midfielder is looking forward to getting much more game time in order to further his chances of making Slovakia’s squad for this summer’s World Cup.

“I was with the team for only one training session before the Burnley game, so I didn’t expect to start — but I was happy to get two or three minutes and get introduced to the ground.

“I’ve got the World Cup coming up this summer, so I’m hoping that I can get some games and experience before then and that I can help Bolton in the right way.

“It is something special because it is the first time Slovakia have qualified and I want to be a part of it, so I will try hard to get some games.”
