SWANSEA City striker Marvin Emnes was “in the building” before his loan move collapsed this week, revealed Neil Lennon.

The former Middlesbrough striker had completed almost all formalities on a short-term deal from the Liberty Stadium until a late wrangle over a payment made to an agent caused the Dutchman to reject the move.

“We had him in the building but the agents couldn’t agree on the deal and they pulled out of it,” said the Whites boss. “We wanted the player and everything had been agreed with personal terms.”

Despite the setback, Lennon insists he has no issue dealing with agents.

“I haven’t had too many problems, even though you get good ones, if you want to call them that, and then ones who are more difficult to deal with,” he said.

“They are just doing their job and doing what they think is best for the player and themselves.

“It’s frustrating at times, yes, but it’s part of all the ingredients that come in when you’re trying to sign a player. It could be others things away from football that stop a move going through.

“But I’m not going to sit here and criticise agents because I get on with the majority of them.”
