WANDERERS are preparing to tie Mark Davies down to a longer deal at the Reebok.
It is understood that the fleet-footed midfielder, currently contracted until 2015, has held positive preliminary talks with the club about an extended contract and will be made an official offer in the next few weeks.
Davies has been ever-present this season, scoring three goals, and sources close to the player say he has been impressed by the changes made by Dougie Freedman since his arrival.
There has been no shortage of interest in the former Wolves playmaker in the past, with Swansea having a £5million offer turned down last summer.
And encouraging news of discussions between the two parties could be a sign that Wanderers are looking to further strengthen their own position should another big money offer materialise when the transfer window reopens in January.
The 24-year-old insisted in a recent interview that he never considered leaving Wanderers after relegation, despite a firm offer from Swansea and reported interest from Liverpool, Reading and Fulham.
