MAMADY Sidibe sunk Wanderers on home turf to give Dougie Freedman yet more cause for concern heading into the January transfer window.

The on-loan Stoke City striker headed home Jake Buxton's cross midway through the first half to stun the Whites, who had until that point been on top.

David Ngog saw an early chance pushed away by Chris Kirkland, but after the opening goal it was pretty much all Wednesday.

Keiran Lee nearly made it two just before the break, his shot bouncing off Adam Bogdan's chest before being hooked clear.

Wanderers needed to improve after the break and Ngog came within inches of an equaliser when he deflected Afobe's cross towards goal with his midriff, the ball bouncing agonisingly wide with Martin Petrov chasing in.

Afobe also had a chance in a second half of little note, with Kirkland stifling his header from close range.

But it was to a half empty crowd that Wanderers sulked off the pitch, and those who had stayed behind left the team in little doubt that their festive spirit had evaporated after back to back defeats against two of the Championship's strugglers.
