OWEN Coyle refuses to panic after seeing his side drop into the bottom three.
Wanderers now lie two points from safety after midweek victories for both Wolves and West Ham pulled them back into trouble.
Coyle has chalked up just four points from his first six games in charge, although his four defeats have come against sides currently in the top five.
The Whites have a game or two in hand on some of their relegation rivals, and face many of them in the coming weeks.
And with this in mind, the manager is unwavering in his prediction that his side will beat the drop.
“We came into the club in the bottom three — so it isn’t as if we have been sitting around at the top, and started slipping down the table,” he said.
“Come the end of the season, we want to be out of it. If we play like we have been, I have absolutely no doubt we will achieve that.”
After Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Spurs, Wanderers meet Wigan (twice), Blackburn, Wolves, West Ham and Sunderland in their next six games.
And Coyle claims what his team garner from that run of fixtures will more accurately gauge their survival prospects.
“We knew we were in for a baptism of fire — we saw we had Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City away,” he said.
“Beating Burnley at home was a big result and we should have won against Fulham, had it not been for a big decision go against us.
“But we know we are coming into a run of games, after the cup tie, against the teams in and around us, and they are the ones we have to get results from.
“If we perform like we did against City on Tuesday night, then we will be fine.”
