OWEN Coyle reckons Gary Cahill is upbeat about his future, as he continues his recovery from a blood clot.
The sidelined defender looks set to miss the next couple of months for Wanderers after the problem was discovered in his left arm.
But after being assured by doctors that he is not at risk of further complications, the 24-year-old will now meet with a specialist next week to ascertain whether there is any chance of him returning to action before the end of this season.
Coyle said Cahill was in high spirits after meeting with him on Monday.
“Gary will meet with a top specialist in a couple of weeks and we’ll take it from there,” he said.
“I saw him yesterday and he’s in a good place mentally at the moment. He’s been assured that the clot has dissolved and everything that goes with that.
“It’s always nice when you can see someone and have a chat with them face-to-face. My primary concern was that he was going to be okay because he is a top man.
“Gary has thought everything through and he knows he’s going to be fine.
“Ultimately, when he gets the green light, he will be energised and will be able to resume his career. There is no doubt he’s going to have a wonderful career.”
