GARY Megson has hit out at Wanderers for making it difficult for him to return to management.

The former Bolton boss is unhappy with his compensation package after being sacked in December.

Megson has been put on gardening leave and is being paid by the club until the end of the year.

The 50-year-old, who was reported to have been on £1.2million-a-year contract and was linked with the vacant Hull job earlier this month, believes he deserved better after keeping Wanderers in the Premier League during his 26-month reign.

And he insists he would forfeit his severance deal to be back working again. “I’m on gardening leave and it’s not something I’m happy about,” he said.

“It sticks in the throat a bit because people might think I’m not available for work, but I want to get back into management quickly.

“Bolton were in a mess when I came in. There was chaos on and off the field but we kept them up twice. To be put on gardening leave after the work I did there is not ideal.

“I agreed the package with Bolton, but I will forego the money to manage again.”

Wanderers have refused to comment on matter.
