KEVIN Davies has scooped the first major club honour of the season by collecting the Bolton Wanderers Supporters Association’s Player of the Year award.

The Whites skipper beat newcomer Chung-Yong Lee and Fabrice Muamba into second and third places, respectively, at the awards ceremony on Tuesday night.

And after collecting the trophy, given in memory of legendary Wanderers commentator Dave Higson, the 34-year-old turned his attention towards collecting more silverware.

“This one is a bit unexpected really,” he said. “I thought the other two lads have been excellent this season. Fabrice has worked so hard for us, and considering this is his first season in the Premier League, Chung-Yong has been amazing.

“I hope I can get another one. It would be nice to beat Matt Taylor, Ivan Klasnic and Gary Cahill to the Golden Boot.

“I’ve got a good goalscoring record against Spurs, so to get a couple more before the end of the season would be nice.”

Owen Coyle, who joined his assistant Sandy Stewart at the Reebok’s Platinum Suite, said: “The skipper is as good a role model as any young player would want. He has been absolutely terrific for us this season.”
