HOPES are high that Shaun Wright-Phillips can become a Wanderers player by the end of next week.

Owen Coyle revealed today that he believed the England winger was keen on a move to the Reebok, ahead of his others suitors Paris St Germain, Stoke City and Wigan Athletic.

A deal is currently being negotiated between the two clubs that would see Wright-Phillips paid a chunk of the transfer fee – believed to be £2.5million – by City to make up for the disparity between his salary at Eastlands and the one he would receive as a Bolton player.

Wanderers' is the lowest offer on the table at present, but Coyle was confident that the winger – who is unlikely to be in the opposition squad tomorrow – would be snapped up soon.

“You can understand with the nature of us playing Manchester City this week, it would be difficult to do any business with them,” he said.

“Without going overboard, he's a player we'd love to bring to the football club.

“There's no issue, I don't think, with his willingness to come, or ours to have him.

“I think the club is in a good place and in terms of the football side, I've got no doubt Shaun would love to come here. We'd certainly love to have him.”

Coyle has chased Wright-Phillips since January but his signing became a pressing concern after Chung-Yong Lee received a double leg fracture in pre-season.

Now, the Whites boss hopes to conclude the matter sooner rather than later.

“I don't think you need to be a rocket scientist to know there is a difference between the salaries at Manchester City and Bolton Wanderers, so hopefully if we can cross that bridge, the next few days should be a lot clearer,” he said.

“I may have a word with Roberto before the game but I don't think the words are the issue.

“I would hope there is a willingness, having spent a long time chasing him.”
