AYR United chief Mark Roberts wants this week’s friendly with Wanderers to pave the way for a link between the two clubs.
The newly-installed manager of the Honest Men saw his team beat SPL Motherwell 4-0 in his first game. They will now face Partick Thistle tonight before welcoming Owen Coyle’s side to Somerset Park.
And Roberts hopes that will not be the last he hears from his former Airdrie team-mate this season.
“Owen has indicated to me that he would be delighted to help out with loan players if I ever needed someone,” he said.
“They were a Premiership side last year, have fantastic calibre and I am sure they will fight their way back up this year. It is a fantastic opportunity for our players to play against the likes of Bolton.”
