WANDERERS are likely to be backed by their second 7,000-strong following at Blackburn in three seasons when the sides meet on January 28.

Rovers are bracing themselves for another Bolton invasion after slashing prices for the derby to £15 for adults and £5 for other fans in all areas of the ground.

Wanderers made the same offer to Rovers fans, as well as their own fans behind the goal, when the sides met earlier in the season.

And it is still fresh in the minds of Wanderers fans how eagerly their away allocation of tickets were snapped up the last time Blackburn offered them for sale at the same bargain prices in October 2006.

The biggest away league following for years filled the 7,000-capacity away end at Ewood Park to see Wanderers win 1-0.

While it is on a Wednesday night this year, the appeal of a local derby and Rovers being managed by former Reebok boss Sam Allardyce is sure to attract Wanderers fans to take advantage of the cut-price tickets.

Explaining the reason for the price reduction, Rovers managing director Tom Finn said: “We know that January is a difficult month for families, especially this year at a time of widespread economic hardship. With that in mind, we have taken steps to reduce prices with the aim of generating the best possible attendance.

“The game is sure to attract a lot of interest, not just because it’s Sam against his former employers, but also because there’s plenty at stake for both clubs.

“We hope that reduced prices will attract a huge attendance.”
