Wanderers have agreed a £425,000 deal for Rosenborg winger Daniel Braaten, according to the Norwegian club's official website.
After an initial bid of about £250,000 the deal was agreed for the higher fee after negotiations this weekend.
According to the Rosenborg website: "For Bolton it was important to end the deal before the Champions League qualifyer against Astana tomorrow, as they want to use Braaten in the UEFA Cup later on."
Braaten said: "This is football. Players come and go. But I will really miss all the kindness in the RBK family."
During his three-year career with Rosenborg Braaten suffered continuing groin injury problems, says the website.
Capped 13 times by Norway, the winger played 101 matches and scored 15 goals for Rosenberg.
