Gary Megson, who heard some chants of "Megson for Bolton" by disgruntled sections of the crowd as Leicester City were losing 1-0 to Sheffield United last night has spoken to the Leicester Mercury about the speculation linking him with the vacant Wanderers job.

Megson, who told the Leicester Mercury yesterday he was staying with City, said: "The truth is, I don't know what is going on.

"The crowd's reaction to me towards the end was not particularly palatable from my point of view, so we need to get it sorted out.

"It is about me, but does not involve me at the moment, so it is up to Bolton and the chairman to sort it out. I am not going to keep talking about things that may or may not happen.

"When the chairman told me last Thursday that he had had an approach and had turned it down, I told him I had no interest in going for an interview there because it wouldn't be right.

"What has happened since then, I don't know. I haven't spoken to the chairman since Sunday."

Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric yesterday turned down Bolton's second request to approach Megson and felt that, having done so, his actions speak for themselves, but the City boss still wants face-to-face talks on what happens next.

He said: "It will be about where we go from here as a club, and it will include everything, every element of the club, the whole structure."
