GARY Megson faces going into the Premiership's toughest test without the services of three of his most trusted lieutenants.

With Jussi Jaaskelainen now ruled out for the rest of the season, skipper Kevin Nolan and defender Gary Cahill have added to the casualty list, rated "extremely doubtful" for Wanderers' trip to leaders Manchester United.

Nolan had been playing through the pain of a back injury with the help of injections in recent weeks, but is tipped to miss tonight's game at Old Trafford where he scored a memorable winner in 2002 - the last time the Whites beat United on their own turf.

Cahill is still nursing a severely bruised and swollen ankle, inflicted by Jason Koumas in a challenge that earned the Wigan man a red card in the fifth minute at the JJB Stadium.
