66 food outlets in Bolton have been given the second worst possible food hygiene rating in their most recent inspections.
The establishments, which range from takeaways to sandwich shops, supermarkets and restaurants, all received a rating of 'two' after being visited by the Food Standards Agency.
This score means that improvements are necessary. A 'two' is given to businesses that score between 35 and 40. For example, if there are some causes for concern in their handling practices and facilities that warrant a prompt change.
The ratings provide a basic picture of the standards of food hygiene found at the time of inspection.
It is the responsibility of the business to comply with food hygiene law at all times.
The food hygiene rating scheme does not provide information on the quality of the food, customer service, culinary skill, presentation or comfort.
All ratings are available to view online on the Food Standard Agency’s (FSA) website.
