The cast for a classic gothic tale which is being turned into a film based in Bolton has been announced.

Writer and director Brett Gregory has written a screenplay based on the short Franz Kafka tale Before the Law, which looks at Britishness, bureaucracy and bigotry.

He also directed the award winning Manchester feature film Nobody Loves You and You Don't Deserve to Exist.

The upcoming Bolton-based production keeps going from strength to strength following our recent coverage.

It has been in pre-production since February, and shooting will start from May 31.

Brett said: “It’s incredible how many people read The Bolton News, and how it’s a part of their daily lives.

“We received numerous enquiries following the news about our filming locations at Pigeon Tower in Rivington and, with support from Bolton Council, at the Old Magistrates Court on Le Mans Crescent in the town centre.

“And we’re absolutely elated to now announce that three of the four cast members are Boltonians.”

Andrew Joseph will play "The Medical Student", Robert Hedley will take up the role of "The Old Doctor", Maya Gallagher will depict "The Victorian Ghost" and Luke Richards, who is from Didsbury, will perform the part of "The Doorkeeper".

Brett added:“The borough has such a thriving and talented creative community, I'm certain it won't be long before many more independent filmmakers from the North West and beyond start exploring what it has to offer.”
