BUSKING sensation Iman Orths is hoping she will be coining it in after finding the perfect pitch to sing for money.

The 16-year-old, who was spotted singing in Manchester city centre, has been invited to busk outside BBC Broadcasting House in London for Children in Need today.

Bolton School pupil Iman, from Heaton, said: “I am very excited to be performing outside the studios. The first song I will be singing will be an acoustic version of We Found Love followed by other cover versions.

“I will be live on the radio and there is a chance I could even be on television.”

Iman was discovered busking in Market Street by Yasser of the BBC Asian Network last year and was drawn to her by the large crowds, which had also attracted the attention of security guards from a nearby shopping centre.

She has gone on appear on the radio show and appeared on BBC Radio 1 Xtra.

Iman says her passion for music and song-writing developed when she was in her early teens after attending a concert with her piano teacher.

The reception she received encouraged her to sing more.

Last year, Iman, who is YouTube sensation, was shortlisted for a place in the Royal Gala to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee at a Children’s Royal Variety show at London’s Savoy Theatre.

Today she is due to travel to the BBC studios with former Bolton School pupil Sam Towers, aged 18, who will play guitar while she sings.

Iman said: “I love singing and writing so much that I have to give it a try, and it has been great so far. I have had a lot of support with all the opportunities I have had. It does give me more confidence to pursue it.”

Catch Iman and Sam live on BBC Asian Network from 1.45pm.
