The Bolton News has once again put the Artificial Intelligence chatbot, ChatGPT, to the test by giving it a challenge of coming up with a poem about the borough.

The AI system has sparked debate in recent weeks from student coursework delivering ‘less trustworthy’ grades than exams in the age of the system all the way to it taking over jobs.

But, ChatGPT has become an online sensation because of its ability to hold natural conversations, and generate speeches, songs and essays.

It scans several sources including books, articles, journals and other areas on the internet to carry out conversations or creative requests.

ChatGPT poem about Bolton:

Bolton, a town so grand

The home of the Wanderers, a team so grand

From the Reebok to the UniBol they stand

The town of Bolton, a place to stand.

From the Pigeon Tower to the town hall

The cobblestones, the tramways, the markets, all

The town of Bolton, a place to be

The memories, the people, the memories we see.

The pubs and clubs, the music, the art

The people of Bolton, the heart

From the cotton mills to the spinning wheel

The history of Bolton, the way it feels.

From the miners and their toil

The cotton workers, the mills and the oil

The town of Bolton, so much to see

The people, the places, the memories.
