Drivers and bus passengers in Bolton and Bury are being reminded about the closure of a road in Kearsley from tomorrow, Monday.

Stoneclough Road will be closed at the Kearsley Rail Station bridge for a period of approximately 10 weeks from tomorrow, Monday July 24, to allow contractors working on behalf of Network Rail to carry out works.

While the road is closed, pedestrian access will be maintained under the bridge and the rail service will be unaffected by these works.

However, the 512, 513 and 557 bus services will be impacted, as well as the 887, 889, 910 and 939 school buses.

A free shuttle bus, funded by Network Rail, will be provided for residents which will operate every 30 minutes, Monday to Saturday, from approximately 9.30am to 2.30pm.

The service will link residents of Prestolee, Ringley Bridge and Ringley Fold with the eastern side of the railway bridge.

A connecting bus to Farnworth will be waiting on the western side of the bridge.

Multiple bus services will be impacted during the works, this includes the 512 Bury to Prestolee to Farnworth service.

Between the hours of approximately 10am and 2pm a free shuttle bus will be available on the western side of the bridge for onward travel to Farnworth.

Most buses on service 512 will run at the same, or similar, times to now though service users are asked to check the timetables before travel.
