A political party says it hopes to give voters across Bolton “a real choice” by raising money ahead of the next election.

The Bolton Green Party says that it hopes to raise a total of £2,000 ahead of the general election, which is expected to be held at some point next year.

They say that, unlike the major parties, their lack of wealthy donors means they have to rely on funding from grassroots supporters.

Bolton Green Party press officer Alan Johnson said: “We are hoping to raise £2,000 to enable us, to stand in the upcoming General Election.

“We want to have candidates in all three Bolton constituencies.

“Unlike the Tories and Labour who have rich backers, the Tories have big business, and Labour who are funded by trade unions, we rely on members and supporters’ funds.

“We want people to have a choice at the election, we need £500 deposit for each area, we are asking supporters to fund us.

“We feel voters should have a real choice at the elections.”
