The owner of four dogs involved in an attack which led to the death of another dog says she is devastated by what happened - but says police have taken away the wrong dog.

The Bolton News reported about the attack in Breightmet in which a Jack Russell named Rosie suffered fatal injuries.

Sammy-Lin Barlow says she is upset and cannot understand how the attack happened.

She owns three French bulldogs and a Presa Canario.

The four dogs got out of her house accidentally after the gate was left open by a visitor on Thursday, March 28, and a fight broke out in which Rosie was killed.

The Bolton News: She wants her dog released

Ms Barlow, aged 39, said: “Police have taken the Presa Canario away.

“They are trying to say it was that dog that attacked his dog.

“They have got the wrong dog.”

She said she did not know why her dogs would have attacked the Jack Russell, and said one of her dogs had sustained bite marks during the incident.

She said: “My dogs are friendly.

“I can’t get hold of the police officer about this. I am very upset by the incident.

“It should never have happened. I feel sorry for him.

“I went to his door to apologise. I offered money to pay for a cremation.”

Rosie belonged to Bob Taylor and his brother Matthew.

Bob told The Bolton News at the time : “We are devastated after the attack.

“Rosie was his (Matthew's)  pal, and now she has gone.”

He added: “My brother doesn’t have any faith in the investigation because they only took the one dog when four dogs were involved, and other people have come forward and this was all told to the police.”
