THESE are the faces of 15 criminals who have been sent to jail this month.

Jamie Turner, aged 30, of no fixed address, was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison by Bolton magistrates after pleading guilty to theft and fraudulently using bank cards. The court heard that Turner, who was living on the streets, was acting out of desperation when he was spotted trying car doors in Corner Brook, Chew Moor.

Anthony Berry, aged 30, was jailed for six years at Bolton Crown Court after he tried to pour boiling water on police officers attempting to end a siege at his Vernon Street, Halliwell home. Police had gone to arrest him after a taxi driver was robbed of his car and he had also attempted to rob another man.

Steven Holmes, aged 48, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for burglary when he appeared at Bolton Crown Court. Holmes had squirted expanding foam into an alarm before ransacking a home in Westhoughton.

Barry Lomax, aged 26, of Callis Road, Bolton, was jailed for 13 weeks by Bolton magistrates after they heard how he stole clothing from a vehicle at Emmaus in Fletcher Street, a charity which helps homeless people.

Men who attempted to rob a newsagents with an imitation firearm have been jailed at Bolton Crown Court. Michael Elwood, 53, of Haydock Street, Bolton, and William Fisher, 38, of Haydock Street, Bolton, were sentenced to four years and ten months, for their roles in attempting to rob the M & H Newsagents in Bath Street, Bolton. The gang’s leader, Thomas Roberts, 29, of Neville Close, Bolton, was jailed for six years and five months, after he pleaded guilty to both attempted robbery and possessing an imitation firearm, which he used to threaten the shopkeeper.

Jason Wadsworth, aged 24, of Ramsay Avenue, Farnworth, was sentenced to 28 days in prison after he stole from a supermarket and hurled abuse at police.

Karl Mottley, aged, 52 of Curzon Road, Heaton, is behind bars for 20 months and two weeks after he ignored a judge’s offer to stay out of prison by cooperating with the probation services. Mottley had pleaded guilty to burgling the home of his partner’s grandfather, attempted burglary, possessing cannabis and going equipped to steal.

Derek Gore, aged 32, of Coniston Avenue, Farnworth, was sentenced to 876 days in prison after he burgled a house on Longcauseway, Farnworth while a 10-year-old girl was having breakfast. Gore walked into the house, rifling through cupboards and stealing chocolate bars, telling the child ‘I’m a friend of your dad’s’. He was caught after a description of his distinctive tattoo was circulated on social media.

Daniel Lee, aged 21, of Longfield Road, Deane, was jailed for two and a half years for the part he played in a vicious attack on a driver in St Helens Road, Bolton. Lee and an accomplice were involved in an altercation in the road with the motorist, who was badly injured.

Mitchell McGivern, aged 18, of Dowley Gap Road, Little Hulton, was jailed for a minimum of 21 years for murdering motorbike passenger 20-year-old Luke Fleming. McGivern had deliberately crashed his car into Mr Fleming at the petrol station on Eastham Way, Little Hulton.

Callum Seddon, aged 25, of Ainsworth Road, Radcliffe, was sentenced to 18 months in prison after leading police on a high speed chase through residential streets. When caught cannabis dealer Seddon had £1,000 of the drug in the car.

Abdul Hussain, aged 53, of Bury Road, Bolton, is spending two years in prison after seriously injuring his ex-wife’s counsellor, who he blamed for the break up of his marriage.

Jordan Powell, aged 30, of Regent Avenue, Little Hulton, was sent to prison for 10 months. He had been involved in a 110mph pursuit with police and admitted dangerous and drink driving.
